VINTAGE 2009
A windy summer with mild temperatures, caused smaller berries and even, slow ripening which led to the best vintage in grape quality in more than forty years according to veteran winemakers. Our yield was 30.6 hectolitres per hectare.
Eisen & Viljoen 2009 is a seamless wine, rich and layered with a heady nose of intense black currant mixed with dark chocolate and cigar box and flavours of black cherries, plum and cassis. The silky texture builds and gains on the mid-palate to a persistent finish with a touch of spice. Hints of espresso, dark chocolate and ripe currant echo in the aftertaste. Aged in the barrel and bottle for a total of forty six months, Eisen & Viljoen is an elegant yet complex wine of uncompromising quality.
