VINTAGE 2012
Our rainfall was below average for winter, but we experienced very cold temperatures during the last part of the season. A cool spring with later budding followed through into mid summer. Very little rain occurred which led to extremely warm and windy conditions in early January before harvest. Meticulous canopy management together with precision irrigation and farming helped our grapes achieve full ripeness without being sun scorched or severely heat affected. Our yield was 50.1 hectolitres per hectare.
A significant Merlot rosé wine with a salmon-pink and onion skin hue and no shortage of personality. Aromas of pomegranate, grapefruit and fresh berries evolve in the glass to more complex flavours of grapefruit and hints of herbs and spices on the palate. Supple tannins together with a complex character and a fresh, balanced palate leads to a lingering, elegant finish.
“karen. rosé 2012: orange blossom and summer strawberries on the nose. A complex rosé that is layered on the palate with an oily palate and firm structure. Strawberries follow through on the palate leaving a refreshing long finish. Among the best in the world.” - Tawanda Marume, Head Sommelier , Singita Game Reserve , Tanzania .
